Garden Trends for 2023

Posted on 30th December 2022

Now more than ever before, garden trends are officially a must-know as we spend more time at home for both work and leisure. At Stone & Surfaces Direct we’re here to predict what’s trending in 2023 when it comes to inspiration for outdoor living.

Throughout 2022, indoor-outdoor living was a popular trend and we expect this look to carry on throughout the new year and many more variations to emerge. We are also predicting that gardening sustainably will continue to be at the forefront of people’s minds as we enter 2023.

Let’s take a look at what we think 2023 will bring!

Creating a sanctuary garden

Over the past couple of years, creating a space for wellbeing and mindfulness has become increasingly important for people. Gardens can be the perfect place to relax and lose yourself and creating the sanctuary is easy, whether your outdoor space is large or small.

If you wish to create your own outdoor space for relaxing, we recommend using a colour palette that is soothing. Consider installing an enclosed patio area to allow yourself to take a moment and reconnect with nature.

We have a wide range of beautiful paving options available that are perfect for creating a designated area to relax in your garden. Once you have installed your patio, incorporate plenty of green potted plants or create a border to display a range of stunning flowers.

Green is a relaxing colour and should be the primary colour when trying to recreate a calming effect.

Borders and transitions

Another key trend for 2023 is creating urban spaces where strong architectural lines are softened with natural planting.

Make transitions between surfaces and corner joints using our high quality selection of decorative aggregates, including slate chippings and gravel. Not only are they beautiful and practical, they are also low maintenance and help prevent weed growth in your garden.

Gravel pathways

Solid paths using high quality gravel are a focal trend to follow. With sustainability in mind, gravel is permeable and flexible and is great for planting in, while also being an affordable choice. Gravel is also helpful for natural water drainage in gardens.

Textured stone

Brushed and slightly textured limestones and sandstones provide plenty of visual interest for gardens. At Stone & Surfaces Direct we have a wide range of choice on natural stone paving to provide a beautiful, textured appearance for your outdoor living space.
