The pump truck was as useful as a chocolate tea pot & the pallets the slate were sat on were broken (not too sure this helped the delivery driver) so they were left with just enough space for a car down a small country lane.

May 2022Stones are perfect for what we need it for although in my opinion, judging from previous purchases from other suppliers, the delivery was a tad later than I expected and the color of the slate doesn’t quite match with the blue I bought elsewhere. I don’t know which supplier is right!
Nonetheless, there are 2 benefits of this purchase over others - chippings are larger in size and the bulk bag looks bigger .

Thank you for your comments. The difference in colour will relate to the quarry of origin. The south lakes blue slate is a consistent blue-grey colour and is from Cumbria, and the other source is from Wales which will be either very grey or have other plum colour inclusions dependant upon the quarry it came from. In addition as your purchase is direct from the quarry we ensure you have a full weighed bag of the product to the specified weight, which means the actual consignment weight is heavier when including the bag and pallet. Most other suppliers send out product that is promoted as being a bulk bag but has a lower content of material in the bag.

Called them up and they answered first ring and within 20 minutes they had sorted it and called me back to confirm. Delivered day agreed, put on the driveway neatly and product as expected. Cannot fault and would use again.

Thank you for your review. We do recommend that customers are present to receive orders so they liaise with drivers where to leave the product, in the hope that the pallet will then be left in the best position assuming that it is possible dependant upon the surface the pump truck must navigate.

Well informed about delivery and the driver called ahead to check access - I live down a narrow lane. No problem with delivery, he dropped the pallet exactly where it needed to be. The stones themselves are fantastic; really good size and very little dust and small shale. There was no debris in the sack at all. March 2022The stone is a perfect colour of light grey which offsets yellow or red pot flowers spectacularly. The size at about 40 mm and consistant at that looks good. Fines in it would make it look like concrete. I ordered a small bag which was delivered to my door on a powered pallet jack so I had to carry it into the garden in a bucket which took a couple of hours and a fruit bun. I was however left with a great wooden pallet. This I had a gardener take away - I hear that they convert them to hippy furniture.

Hello, thank you for your comments. The slate may initially appear grey due to the dust that can still be on the surface of the product. As you are buying DIRECT from the quarry the aggregate is not pre washed after processing. We recommend that you has hose the chippings after installation to remove any dust or dirt and the grey - blue colour will be more evident.

Got a call from courier on Wednesday, asking if it would be ok to deliver on Thursday instead. Which I was happy to. Deliver came in allotted time. Driver friendly and helpful. Stones exactly as I wanted. Only thing I’d say is that the pallets where falling apart as the driver got them off the lorry. So a little awkward for the driver. Otherwise a great service and would happily use again.

December 2021The slate was exactly what we wanted and looks great in our garden. I only wish is that it would have been deliverer on a craned lorry so that it could have been dropped straight onto our front garden where it was needed and we would not have been left with 6 pallets that are difficult to dispose of

Thank you for your comments. ALL our products come direct from the quarry of origin so to be able to move the product from the source to our customers we use the Pallet Network and as a consequence a crane facility can not be provided as this is a national delivery service. We endeavour to communicate the way the product is delivered through the web site and in the order confirmation. This does mean that customers get the highest quality material as the blue is not mixed with small quantities of plum as is the case in most other products sold.

November 2021Overall I'm really happy I choose Stone and Surfaces to buy my slate from. I ordered probably a little more than I needed as I've still have half a 750kg bag left. The slate is great, a nice colour but I still need to hose it all down to get all the dust off. Absolutely transformed my drive. Out of 2 1/2 750kg bag I've only found maybe 5 none slate stones which isn't bad what's so ever if comparing to buy from b&q etc. I would highly recommend and buy from again. Delivery was nice and smooth, the driver put the pallets just where I needed them and was very friendly.
