stone looks great in a japanese style garden that we are developing.

prompt order and delivery

a suggestion would be to consider delivery with crane lift option rather than pallets

Our Reply

Thank you for your comments. As all our products are delivered across the whole of the UK direct from the quarry we use a national pallet distribution network to reach all locations as most of the depots operating within the pallet network do not have a crane facility, which would also increase the transport cost. We therefore try to offer a service facility that is consistent across the whole of the UK. Crane services are normally provided by a local builders merchant, and in these instances the product will need to be bought in bulk by the merchant and would involve an additional transport cost to their depot. This is why our prices are typically 15-25% less than that available from a local builders merchant. We will continue to review this facility in accordance with your suggestion.

Good bag full. Delivered on the right day, though a couple of hours later than originally indicated. The weight of the bag was only just manageable by the pallet truck, so be warned if you’ve any incline whatsoever. We had to pull as the delivery guy pushed, and we’re practically flat. Quality looks good enough, though I don’t really know what makes good gravel and bad gravel?!

Although the 10mm gravel was not as I expected Nick very kindly agreed to change it to the 20mm which I am delighted with. That level of customer service was a huge relief to me and I cannot thank Stone and Services Direct and Nick, in particular, enough. Great service  thanks, Graham

Only query the chippings were pink not grey ???!!!! We have a grey chippings car park, fortunately the chippings were for a flat roof

Our Reply

Thank you for your review. The pink residue is the dust that can sit on the surface of the product after it is processed. The product is not pre washed to waste water, so when the chippings are hosed it will definitely disappear.

A highly versatile light grey limestone chipping with a light cream tint to its colour. The colour of this limestone decorative chipping darkens slightly when wet. The 20mm limestone dove grey chipping is ideal for garden paths, driveways and parking spaces, planting borders, rockeries and general ground cover.

Dove grey chippings can also be used as a construction aggregate for pipe bedding, surrounds and making ready mix concrete. We recommend that limestone aggregate is not used in ponds, as it is not fish-friendly and is washed before use.

Key features of this decorative limestone aggregate are:

The 10mm limestone chippings offer lower maintenance, saving you time than other garden landscaping products and are ideal for weed prevention. The chippings will help maintain the moisture in your soil during long hot summer spells.

This limestone has a lower carbon footprint than most other decorative aggregates sold as we deliver direct from the quarry.

PLEASE NOTE: bulk bags of 10mm South Lakeland dove grey chippings are 850kg from Stone & Surfaces Direct (many other suppliers offer 700-800kg under the term bulk bag). With Stone & Surfaces Direct, you get 7.5 - 15% more slate chippings.

The attached information includes a quality certificate which will show the consistency of the aggregates size grading. Many aggregate suppliers do not provide this or carryout these controls which means the aggregate can have significant proportions of very small pieces to dust. In addition the material performance report provides the geological composition of the aggregate, and its physical and chemical properties.
